BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — A new survey has determined that Main Street in Williston is one of the most pristine streets in the United States.

The survey, conducted by Waste Removal USA, asked 3,000 travelers what the most pristine streets in the United States are, and compiled a list of the top 100. Main Street in Williston placed 95th on the list.

“Williston’s picturesque Main Street reflects its charming Midwestern atmosphere and dedication to cleanliness. The street features a variety of shops and restaurants, all meticulously maintained,” says the article on the Waste Removal USA website. “Nearby, the Missouri River, Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site, and the annual Upper Missouri Valley Fair contribute to the town’s well-kept and inviting environment.”

In the top 10 are three streets in Georgia, along with streets in Maine, Arkansas, Utah, Delaware, Connecticut, and Colorado. Main Street in Deadwood, South Dakota also made the top 10, taking the seventh spot for its “Black Hills charm and cleanliness.”

Another thing this study revealed is how many cities keep their Main Streets clean. Almost 60 Main Streets made the list. This is because urban centers tend to have cleaner streets, especially if they attract a lot of tourists or host big events — but smaller towns, like Williston, demonstrate the role communities play in keeping their streets clean.
