    Man dead after being shot in the chest in East Austin, APD says

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — One man is dead after being shot in the chest in East Austin at the 6300 block of Thurgood Avenue on Thursday night, according to the Austin Police Department.

    Officers said they responded to the call at around 8:35 p.m.

    When police arrived on scene and located the victim, they provided life-saving measures, however the victim was pronounced dead shortly after.

    Austin Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time. They said they do not have any information on a suspect.

    Authorities said you could reach out to the investigators using the homicide tip line at 512-477-3588.

    This is being investigated as Austin’s 40th homicide of 2024, according to APD.
