Argument in Spokane business escalates to drive-by shooting incident Tuesday, suspect arrested

SPOKANE, Wash. -- A suspect has been arrested for a drive-by shooting that happened on West Sinto Avenue Tuesday night.

According to Spokane Police, calls came in just after midnight Tuesday about a man, 35-year-old Joshua D. Cruz, who had pointed a handgun at multiple people in a parking lot before firing a shot into the front grill of an occupied vehicle.

Cruz, along with several others, drove away.

Police said the shooting took place after an argument inside a local business. Cruz, who wasn't part of the argument, arrived shortly after.

Detectives identified Cruz from a cell phone video showing part of the incident. A search warrant was given to Cruz's home on West Augusta Avenue.

Cruz was taken into custody without incident. Police found several guns, ammunition, and shell casings in the home when it was searched.

Cruz was booked into Spokane County Jail for a drive-by shooting, assault and malicious mischief.
