(COLORADO) — In a statement released on Friday, June 7 many leaders within the Republican Party called for the resignation of Republican State Party Chair David Williams.

In the statement, Nancy Pallozzi, Chairman of the Jefferson County Republicans said numerous Colorado Republican County Chairs, along with other county party officers, members of the Colorado State Central Committee in all 64 Counties and many Republican candidates are asking for Williams’ resignation. The call comes after what the statement said were a series of actions that encouraged division instead of unity in the party.

The statement writes examples of Williams’ actions that encouraged division including:

    • Sending a number of emails endorsing former President Trump before the presidential primary, violating the party’s long-established position of primary neutrality.
    • Surveys aligned with the state committee’s issue positions were sent to all Republican candidates mandating that they complete it to determine if the State Party would give them its endorsement.
    • A divisive email was sent that was not in alignment with the voices of over one million Republicans and Conservatives in the state.

The statement accuses Williams’ leadership of not aligning with the majority of Colorado Republicans, mentioning the recent email message on Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ community, and the post on X (formally known as Twitter) calling for the burning of Pride flags.

Williams spoke about the recent social media post during the Colorado District 5 Primary debate on Thursday, June 6.

“I do not care what some pride organizers think about what we’re doing,” Williams explained. “What I care about is protecting our children. What I care about is advancing biblical principles, and what I care about is what the Lord has to say. If that costs me this election, if that costs me everything so be it.”

“We are asking Mr. Williams to immediately resign his position as Chairman of the Colorado Republican Party. We urge him to step down to allow us to bring in a new Chair who will help build our party, support all our candidates and county organizations, and bring unity,”

Nancy Pallozzi, Chairman of Jefferson County Republicans

FOX21 News reached out for a comment from Williams and a representative, Hope Scheppelman
Vice-Chairwoman of the Colorado Republican Party, sent the below statement:

“We make no apologies for standing against pride month as it’s a destructive agenda that harms children and undermines parental authority and if certain weak Republicans like Nancy Pallozzi want to side with a movement that promotes transgender chemical castration and genital mutilation then we look forward to notifying their base membership of that disgraceful fact,”
