Chelsea Minjarez sentenced to 15 months after bomb threat

(CROWLEY COUNTY, Colo.) — Chelsea Minjarez, who was arrested in 2022 in connection with a bomb threat and threatening text messages, has been sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment.

On June 27, 2022, according to the Crowley County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), people in the community received threatening text messages saying that “innocent people are going to be hurt or killed” if 16th Judicial District Court Judge Richard Medina and Crowley County Sheriff Terry Reeves did not step down.

CCSO shared the original threatening post on their Facebook page. It shows the message that people in the community received via text ( warning: the threat contains strong language ). The message mentions local businesses, homes, and people as targets. CCSO said it was the first of several similar messages.

On July 12, 2023, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Chelsea Minjarez in connection to the threats. Minjarez has been in custody since that time, and today was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment.

After the 15 months are up, Minjarez will be on supervised release for 3 years.
