    Youth Fishing Derby on Pikes Peak opens registration

    (COLORADO SPRINGS) — Registration for the second annual Youth Fishing Derby on Pikes Peak is now open as of Friday, Aug. 16.

    The derby is free for youth ages 6 to 15 and will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Crystal Reservoir. Free lunch and vehicle access to Pikes Peak Highway will be provided.

    Registration is open online , and individuals can now sign up.

    “We are excited to host the second annual Youth Fishing Derby and encourage all young anglers to come out and participate,” said Skyler Rorabaugh, Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain Manager. “This event not only provides a fun and educational experience for kids but also fosters a love for the outdoors and conservation. We are grateful to our partners for their support in making this event possible.”

    The derby will kick off with demonstrations in knot tying, baiting, casting, and fish handling. The first 100 youths in need of fishing supplies to participate in the derby will be provided fishing gear.

    Awards will be presented following the event. A state license is not required for youth participants.
