Celebrity Slopper assembly competition at State Fair

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Celebrity Slopper Contest takes place Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Colorado State Fair, and FOX21 News Evening Anchor Taylor Bishop will take part to test her slopper-making skills.

The Celebrity Slopper Contest this year will test competitors’ speed at preparing four sloppers, and whoever assembles them the quickest, wins. The contest takes place prior to the World Slopper Eating Championship , a uniquely Pueblo event.

A Pueblo slopper consists of an open-faced cheeseburger smothered in pork green chile. This year’s World Slopper Eating Championship is sanctioned by the Major League Eaters and is open to professional eaters.

The 2020 event winner, Geoffrey Esper, holds the world record at 37.5 nine-ounce sloppers! He bested 2019 winner, Darron Breeden, by more than 9 sloppers.

State Fair admission grants guests access to the World Slopper Eating Championship, which begins at 3 p.m., as well as the Celebrity Slopper Contest immediately before. State Fair attendees can head to the Pepsi Stage to catch all the sloppy action.
