(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) said a structure fire near the downtown area of Colorado Springs had a second alarm called and alternate routes are advised for the area.

According to CSFD, on Monday, Sept. 2 at around 7:15 a.m. fire crews were on the scene of a fire in the 710 block of North Nevada Avenue south of East Cache La Poudre Street. Fire crews were able to shut off a gas line and knocked down the fire behind the building.

Fire crews are checking for any fire extension and the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has officers in the area assisting CSFD with traffic control.

Drivers are advised to find alternate routes through the area as many emergency vehicles are in the area.
