On Friday, Sept. 6, the game kicks off at 6:45 p.m. at the Cheyenne Mountain High School stadium, located at 1200 Cresta Road. The game will honor the city’s veterans and military service members and will also introduce Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center to families, supporters, staff, and volunteers.

The game, which comes the weekend before Patriot Day, will also honor the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001, and the lives lost in the Global War on Terror.

“We’re honored that the Cheyenne Mountain High School team wants to honor veterans on the weekend before Patriot Day, a very somber day for our nation,” said Mt. Carmel Executive Director Bob McLaughlin. “We thank them for their ongoing support for veterans and for the services at Mt. Carmel.”

After the coin toss, Gradishar will also be giving away a Gradishar Broncos jersey at halftime.

The Fort Carson 4th Infantry Division band will also be onsite to play the National Anthem and the Air Force Color Guard will present the colors.

“It is a privilege to work with Mt. Carmel and our local military to bring community awareness and support to veterans here in Colorado Springs,” said Kris Roberts, the Athletic Director for Cheyenne Mountain School District 12.

According to the press release, Gradishar is participating in the game “because it combines two of his loves: football and honoring his father’s military service.” Gradishar is also an ambassador for Mt. Carmel and routinely supports military and veteran activities throughout the state.

Coming up on Friday, Sept. 13, Mt. Carmel will host its 9th Annual Patriot Day Giveback event and more information can be found at the link above.
