SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Beach season is back and so is “It’s a Shore Thing,” your go-to spot for all things fun at the Jersey Shore!

We’re headed for a hot Memorial Day weekend — and not just because temperatures are in the 80s. The weekend is loaded with fun events along the shore for the whole family. If you need a few ideas, we’ve got you covered.

There’s something for everyone at the Wildwood Food Truck and Music FEASTival on Sunday starting at noon. More than a dozen food trucks will be parked in Byrne Plaza, offering everything from cheesesteaks and tacos to seafood, as well as dessert. Vegetarian options will also be available.

There will also be music to go along with your meal, with DJ Louis spinning all day on the wheels of steel. Kids will have plenty to keep them entertained as well, from face painting and miniature golf to a bungee trampoline.

Described as a “full-blown kite festival on steroids,” the Wildwoods International Kite Festival is aimed at both kite enthusiasts and beginners, running all weekend at the Wildwoods Convention Center and on the beach at Rio Grande Avenue in Wildwood.

It all starts on Friday with the “Unlocking of the Beach” ceremony. Festivities include a welcome social, an illuminated night kite flight and a kite makers’ competition. If you don’t have a kite, there will be a sales tent on hand. There will also be workshops and lessons for beginning flyers.

The festival culminates in the World Indoor Kite Competition on Monday. Even if you’ve never flown a kite before, the event is open and instructors will be on hand. It’s an all-inclusive event organizers say will have everyone on cloud nine.

Classical and jazz music lovers will find much to love at the Cape May Music Festival , kicking off on Sunday and running through June 23.

The Atlantic Brass Band starts things off with a free outdoor performance Sunday night at 7. The lineup throughout the month-long festival includes the New Jersey Chamber Symphony Players, the New York Chamber Ensemble, the Bay Atlantic Symphony, a jazz brunch featuring musicians Mary Lou Newnam and Ray Mallach, and indie pop group BAILEN.

If you need help coming out of your shell, you can join the runners taking part in the Stone Harbor Turtle Trot . The 23rd annual event includes a 5K run and 2-mile fun walk.

Organizers say the event, named for the diamondback terrapins crossing Stone Harbor’s roads, has become a Memorial Day weekend tradition for runners, families and beach enthusiasts. A portion of the event proceeds goes to the Diamondback Terrapin Conservation Program at the Wetlands Institute.

This year, the run is part of the USA Track & Field New Jersey Grand Prix, so USATF runners can earn points toward their 2024 Grand Prix totals. Even if you aren’t part of the Grand Prix, organizers promise a shell of a good time.

Do you hear the blues a-calling? If you do, then organizers hope the Atlantic City Beach Ball Drop on Friday will chase them away.

It’s part of an entire weekend of events on the Atlantic City boardwalk. There will be live entertainment on the boardwalk from noon until 5 p.m. on Friday, culminating in the Beach Ball Drop, with more than 5,000 beach balls dropped from a giant net for everyone to enjoy. If that isn’t enough, “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer will be on hand for the fun.
