Man gets up to 25 years for raping teen in Quakertown parking lot

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A 33-year-old Sellersville man will spend up to 25 years in prison for raping a 15-year-old girl he was contacting through Snapchat.

Bucks County Judge Stephen Corr called Miguel Sanchez “a despicable person with a total lack of regard for anyone else,” as he sentenced him to 12 ½ to 25 years in state prison.

Sanchez pleaded no contest earlier this year to raping a 15-year-old in his car in a Quakertown parking lot on Oct. 23, 2023 , and to offering the teen and her 16-year-old friend money in exchange for nude and explicit videos.

Prosecutor Brittney Kern says several factors went into their request for a harsher sentence.

“The age of the victim — the defendant had an open sex-related crime in Montgomery County at the time this crime was committed, and so all of that we felt called for an aggravated sentence,” Kern said.

Corr apologized to the victim’s family saying he wishes he “could apologize for this scumbag” and bring back the innocence of childhood.

The 15-year-old’s mother told the court she hates herself for not being able to protect her daughter and for not getting through to her that there is “pure evil out there.”

According to court records, at the time of the rape, Sanchez was out on bail for charges in Montgomery County, including strangulation and indecent assault. A woman told police she met Sanchez on a dating app and, in August 2022, he assaulted her in the back seat of his car in a parking lot in Pottstown. Sanchez has pleaded guilty to those charges and is awaiting sentencing.
