Floridians have no shortage of grocery choices. Depending on your priority, you have discount choices like Aldi and Walmart, traditional choices like Publix and Winn Dixie, and choices that prioritize organics and produce like Whole Foods, Detwiler's, and Sprouts. Floridians who are fans of Sprouts will soon be getting a new one in St. Petersburg with some planned unique amenities.

Sprouts In Florida: So what is so special about Sprouts, anyway? The grocer says that you don't have to be wealthy to eat healthy and sees itself as a hybrid between a specialty and a traditional grocer.

The stores tend to be a bit smaller and offer fresh, locally sourced produce with to-go items in the deli, a full-service butcher, an in-house bakery, and a fish market.

Some Floridians rave about some of the specialty offerings at Sprouts like their sushi. For example, a Yelp reviewer named Javon wrote this about a Tampa store, in part:

"This is my favorite grocery store! I can't rave enough about the muffins, the quality of the produce, and the friendly staff. But the real winner is the sushi. Now offered at $5 daily, they have a lot of selections for a grocery store and it tastes nothing like it came from a grocery store..."

The Upcoming New Sprouts: A new 23,000-square-foot Sprouts is coming to the planned Skyway Marina District in South St. Petersburg. The development is in the planning stages and, if approved, it would bring over 2,000 apartments as well as commercial spaces, as well as restaurants, and boutiques.
