A FL Winn Dixie Slated For Aldi Conversion Is Reportedly Liquidating With Deep Discounts

Last week, I wrote about a Winn Dixie at Imperial Christina Plaza in Lakeland that had reportedly announced its imminent closure in late July of 2024. Some patrons were speculating that the Winn Dixie would become an Aldi since Aldi bought out 400 Winn Dixie stores in the fall of 2023. My article received much interest, and some readers expressed disappointment about the idea of a conversion. For example, a reader with the handle FireCracker commented:

"Winn Dixie stores are very clean and Aldi stores are filthy, dirty stores. And they don’t carry all the products Winn Dixie does. I will no longer shop Winn Dixie when it converts over..."

Readers who share this sentiment may be disappointed to know that an Aldi spokesperson recently confirmed that this Lakeland store is being converted to an Aldi.

However, some shoppers may be happy to know that, before closure on July 28, 2024, the Winn Dixie in question is offering some deep discounts.

The Winn Dixie store itself is reportedly offering a clearance of 30-40% off some items. The liquor store is reportedly offering 20% off some items like Jack Daniels Whiskey. Signage on the doors indicates that all sales are final.

This store is relatively well-received by patrons and visitors, earning 4.2 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. Some said that the store is clean and well-stocked. A reviewer named Sheryl wrote:

"I used to dread visiting this store. I'm a lifelong Publix shopper, but the remodel has made this store bright, clean, spacious, and easy to navigate. I know we saved money and it was a pleasant experience."
