The Only Rusty Bucket Restaurant In Florida Abruptly Closes

Florida has had some beloved restaurants close down this year. I've written about Miami's Duffy's, Miami Beach's Shucker's, and St. Peterburg's Munch's. And now, a favorite of some shoppers in Sarasota - The Rusty Bucket - is abruptly closing.

About The Rusty Bucket: Located in the University Town Center, this eatery served for eight years. Although this restaurant serves casual fare or many varieties, popular choices are its burgers and chicken sandwiches.

The eatery has been reviewed nearly 1,800 times and earns a 4.2 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. Many compliment the food and the environment. A reviewer named Erin wrote:

"I ordered the bacon burger with chips on the side and fried pickle spears, and it did not disappoint. I got my food to-go, and it was still hot and fresh, and the pickles were still crispy like they were right out of the fryer. Hands-down (the) best place I’ve gotten food from in a very long time."

The Upcoming Closure: The Sarasota restaurant was the only Rusty Bucket in Florida, although there are around 20 scattered throughout the United States. A bartender told the Herald Tribune that the restaurant was closing permanently on August 18, 2024 and that he was only told approximately a week ago.

Some patrons expressed sadness in a Coastal Living Sarasota Facebook post.

    A poster named Kelly wrote:

    "So sad. Love them."

And a reviewer named Liz wrote:

What happened? This place was good!!!
