Mainly Showers For This Friday Afternoon And Evening - Slight Chance For Storms

WHAT WE ARE TRACKING: Showers this morning have been well to our north near Ladysmith and to our west over Winona -- where we had a reported storm at 7 am this morning. Today, expect some cooling due to rain cooled air and much cooler air wrapped around the area of low pressure over north and central Wisconsin.  While showers are mainly expected today, afternoon heating and lift could provide a slight chance for a storm near La Crosse.

NEXT 24 HRS: Light to moderate showers may occur for your  early evening commute. Then a break as this area of low pressure tracks eastward from 5 pm to 7 pm.  Around the 7 pm - 9 pm time frame this evening, light isolated showers will brush by areas from Winona to La Crosse, Sparta, Black River Falls and Viroqua as the area of low pressure moves to the U.P. dragging what little moisture remains within its western periphery.  That's how we close out this evening's showers and light rain.

LOOKING AHEAD: We may see a few showers to our north with a slight chance for areas around La Crosse Saturday mid morning and afternoon.  Mostly likely showers will return in the overnight hours into Sunday. Another round of storms enters west-southwest Wisconsin on Sunday morning. Then another system arrives towards Wisconsin and dives south into the region for Monday, Tuesday and possibly lingers as light showers Wednesday as a 30% chance. The afternoon high today for La Crosse is 74° degrees. Eau Claire and Prairie du Chien will have highs of 72° degrees today.  A bit warmer on Saturday with partly cloudy skies and temperatures running from 76-81° degrees. Sunday will run similar to Saturday in regard to temperature, but expect mostly cloudy skies and a 70% chance for showers and storms. River levels in Winona and Wabasha will fall into minor stage levels this Saturday and Sunday.  La Crosse will follow suit either Thursday late night or early Friday of next week. McGregor will  remain in the moderate stage through next week.
