La Crosse Jazz Orchestra celebrates 50th anniversary

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The La Crosse Jazz Orchestra is celebrating their 50th anniversary Sunday, marking the start of their 2024 In the Park concert series.

Beginning Sunday evening, the orchestra will perform at Riverside Park for the next four weekends.

The group features musicians from across the region, including Madison, Stevens Point, and Minneapolis.

The director of the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra expressed his enjoyment in interacting with audience members.

"People love the music. We love the music. We could just play this on our own and practice and do that. It is nothing without the audience. It is so much fun," said Greg Balfany.

The group has played all over the region, including in Caledonia, Sparta, West Salem, and Stoddard. Their featured concert will be held on August 4.
