La Farge bicyclist dies after collapsing on County Highway P

TOWN OF CLINTON, Wis. (WKBT) -- A La Farge man has died after collapsing at an intersection in Vernon County.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff's Office, the man, identified as 80-year-old Harry Monroe, was riding his bicycle on County Highway P near Dell Road Thursday evening.

Witnesses said he'd stopped along the side of the road and told them he believed he was having cramps. Following a short conversation, he got back on his bicycle and started to ride away before collapsing on the road.

The witnesses on scene attempted CPR until emergency responders arrived to continue life-saving efforts, which were ultimately unsuccessful.

Monroe was later pronounced dead by the Vernon County Coroner's Office.
