A crowning achievement: First ever Miss LaFayette Main Street crowned at inaugural pageant

The first annual Miss LaFayette Mainstreet took place on Saturday in a full auditorium. The pageant had 44 girls from the ages of three to 18, take the stage at LaFayette High Schools Auditorium.

“With it being the inaugural I was very presently surprised, and the contestants were from all over,” said DeAnna Hand, Director of LMS.

Hand said the feedback was great, with contestants and parents alike commenting on how smoothly it went.

“Girls in our community have not had this opportunity…[We were] able to showcase our town, even for locals and those out of town, [it] brought in people who have never been here before,” Hand added that business saw an increase of patrons on Saturday.

There were five divisions, Tiny Miss (ages 3 to 5), Little Miss (ages 6 to 9), Young Miss (ages 10 to 12), Junior Miss (ages 12 to 15), and Miss LaFayette Mainstreet (ages 16 to 18).

There was an additional award for most photogenic and people’s choice, voted on by the audience.

The hosts for the morning and evening sections were Lyndee Williams, who acted as Mistress of Ceremony and Paul Story, who acted as Master of Ceremony. There were three judges, all from out of town, Toni Wright, Wendy White and Emily McKinnon.

Hand said pageants used to be done throughout the county but had not been done in 15 years.

The winners were:

• Tiny Miss LaFayette Street – Lakelynn Moultrie
  • The alternates were Sade Rose Cristan, Addison Scott and Haleigh Bailey.
• Little Miss LaFayette Main Street – Kaselynn Taylor
  • The alternates were Hadlee Spark, Ava Wall and Mia McDaniel.
• Young Miss LaFayette Main Street – Hollis Ann Whitfield
  • The alternates were Saylor Ayers and Skylar Andrews.
• For the younger groups, Miss LaFayette Street Photogenic was awarded to Saylor Ayers and the People’s Choice was Alenthia Ware.

• Miss LaFayette Main Street – Ansley Carter
• Junior Miss LaFayette Main Street – Kameryn Mayton
• Carter also won the People’s Choice and Mayton was awarded the Ms. Photogenic for the older group.

All of the contestants were given free manicures from Small Town Nail Spa, and both Miss and Junior Miss LaFayette Mainstreet won free monthly manicures for an entire year. The winners, of course, got the traditional sash, flowers and crown and will get to represent LMS at local events, the Christmas parade and other media opportunities.

Hand said many of the parents and contestants were thrilled that all the girls walked away with something, including new friends from around the area.

The Miss LaFayette Main Street pageant was sponsored by Danielle Jordan, owner of the Back Porch Salon, Rhea Prather, owner of Ready Set Glow Tanning in LaFayette and The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. Hand also thanked the LMS volunteers, without whom the event would not be possible. Youth volunteers were especially excited to help with the event, said Hand.
