Man arrested for assaulting wife and unlawful carrying of weapon
BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A man was arrested for assaulting his wife and unlawfully carrying a weapon, according to the Cameron County Sheriff's Office. On August 13, 2024, at approximately 8:42 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence in Brownsville in response to a reported family disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the female victim, who reported that earlier that day, while she was driving with her husband, Porfirio Zuniga, in the passenger seat, he became irate over her refusal to take him home. Zuniga allegedly began kicking the dashboard and gear lever, causing the vehicle to stall. He then struck her repeatedly on her right arm, causing pain, redness, and swelling.
