His only protection from the scorching sun was a broad-brim hat with a neck flap and a small patch of shade beside a storage building, to which he could retreat for brief periods of respite. Carr’s mission on this particular day was to remove weeds from an area in the Faison Community Garden where he planned to plant okra.
Kinston Driver License office suspends road skills testing
The Kinston Driver License Office located at 2214 West Vernon Avenue posted the following on their NC DMV Website:. This office will suspend road skills testing each day from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19 due to road construction in the area of the office location. This office will accept scheduled appointments from 7 a.m.-12 p.m., and will accept walk-in customers from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. Many services such as driver license renewal and duplicates can also be found online at MyNCDMV.gov.

North Carolina Secures $242M Grant for Cape Fear Bridge Replacement
The Biden Administration has awarded a $242 million grant through its Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to replace the aging Cape Fear Memorial Bridge in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, a 3,000-foot-long steel vertical-lift structure built in 1969, currently serves as a critical transportation link carrying U.S. Highways 17, 76, and 421 over the Cape Fear River, connecting Brunswick and New Hanover counties.
