AYDEN, N.C. (WITN) - Police this morning identified a man who was shot and killed this past weekend an an Eastern Carolina bar. Ayden police say 64-year-old Guy Brown, of Kinston, died in the shooting at the Legacy Lounge on Highway 11. The shooting happened just after 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

Payment Deadline for 2024 Fall Semester Courses is Wednesday
WINTERVILLE—The Pitt Community College Registrar’s Office is reminding students that the 2024 Fall Semester payment deadline is fast-approaching. According to PCC Registrar Anita Moore, the college began taking payments for fall classes July 1. She said students who have been signing up for the fall since April 1 have until July 17 at 4 p.m. to pay for tuition and fees in order to avoid having their schedules deleted.
45th Annual East Coast Got Em On King Mackerel Tournament held in Carolina Beach
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Nearly 200 boats competed in a fishing tournament this weekend in Carolina Beach looking to reel in the big one. The 45th Annual East Coast Got Em On King Mackerel Classic took place this Sunday. The tournament is typically all weekend long, but due to weather it was pushed to just Sunday. Dozens of people waited for the boats to come in before 5pm, with some bringing in some big fish before then. Several different size fish came in weighing anywhere between 10 – 40 lbs. According to Kevin Aman, a member of the NC Division of Marine Fisheries, who did sampling of some of the fish that were caught, said its a great turnout every year.

Ayden police have charged a Kinston man with an open count of murder after a gunshot victim died at the hospital. The Ayden Police Department said officers responded about 2:01 a.m. Sunday to a reported gunshot victim at Legacy Lounge, a nightclub at 6250 N.C. 11, north of N.C. 102.
