H2GO reports two untreated wastewater discharges, one bypass of untreated wastewater
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - Brunswick Regional Water & Sewer H2GO reported two overflow events and one bypass event of untreated wastewater on Aug. 8. 7,650 gallons overflowed at a manhole along Lanvale Road south of King Road in Leland and flowed to a drainage feature tributary to Sturgeon Creek. Crews discovered the overflow while responding to a lift station high-level alarm.

Two officers guarding escaped killer remain on duty as manhunt continues
The two officers who were guarding escaped killer Ramone Alston remain on active duty, as the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (DAC) said the agency had no indications that the two officers did anything improper.Alston was being transported to UNC Hospital in Hillsborough for a doctor's appointment when authorities believe he managed to get his leg restraints off.
