Gering man drowns in Wyoming lake
GUERNSEY, Wyo. — A 65-year-old Gering man is reported to have drowned July 12 at a Platte County, Wyoming, lake. According to information released by the Platte County, Wyoming, Sheriff’s Department, authorities concluded the search Wednesday at Grayrocks Reservoir without recovering the body of the man who had been missing since about 11:42 a.m. on July 12. The sheriff’s department reported it had exhausted all available resources in the search, including using Tip Top Search and Rescue from the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, which used drag sonar over two days. Search efforts had been ongoing since the man hadn’t resurfaced after jumping off a boat.

TORRINGTON – Russell William Zimmer, 98, died peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. He now rests alongside Ila, his loving and devoted wife of 77 years, and in the arms of their dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington with the Reverend Scott Firminhac officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery, with full Military Honors provided by the Wyoming Army National Guard. A full obituary will appear in Friday’s Telegram.
