Giorgio Kirylo, a former Marine and passionate San Diego community activist, has tragically passed away at the age of 38. Giorgio "George" Kirylo, was born June 1, 1986. After a career as a member of the elite United States Marine Forces Special Operations Command, he retired from the military in 2021 after multiple combat deployments. He then redirected his focus from battles overseas to addressing the challenges in his home city of San Diego, particularly those within what he deemed to be a broken governmental system.

Homelessness Leader Weighs in on the Mega-Shelter
Our Lisa Halverstadt chatted late Friday with Tamera Kohler, CEO of the Regional Task Force on Homelessness, after she toured the site where Mayor Todd Gloria envisions a 1,000-bed shelter. Rady Children's Hospital nurses oppose new hospital agreement, prompting strike
Negotiators representing Rady Children's Hospital nurses opposed the latest agreement with the hospital and have decided to strike for the next couple of days in San Diego. Prompted by rising housing costs throughout the county, the strike will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Rady Children's Hospital, 3020 Children's Way, according to a statement from Katie Langenstrass, executive director of United Nurses of Children's Hospital Teamsters Local 1699.
