(Red Oak) -- Cyclists from across the country and the globe began the over 460-mile trek of RAGBRAI Sunday. After kicking off with an expo in Glenwood Saturday, tens of thousands of cyclists made their way across Mills County and began filing into Red Oak Sunday afternoon and evening for the 51st Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. Tents, trailers, and trucks packed into the Red Oak Junior-Senior High and Inman Elementary grounds, public parks, and host family's yards and homes. KMA News had a chance to catch up with some riders, including first-timers such as Al West from northwest Missouri. A veteran cyclist, West says he has usually preferred riding solo or with smaller groups. But, he says the first day went well in the jam-packed event.
