Public officials in Bluffton, Hampton County facing charges after SLED investigation
BLUFFTON, S.C. — Public officials in Bluffton and Hampton County are facing charges following an investigation by South Carolina's State Law Enforcement Division. In information released Thursday by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, the defendants were identified as Rose Dobson-Elliott, former Hampton County administrator, Justin Edwards, former Hampton County sheriff's deputy, Thomas Rauchfuss, former civilian employee of the Bluffton Police Department, and Bonificio Perez, Bluffton Police officer.

Bluffton Police Department’s policy led to two indictments between two officers
BLUFFTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Bluffton Police Department’s “Duty to Intervene” policy leads to an internal investigation of four officers, with two being indicted. Thomas Rauchfuss and Sgt. Bonifacio Perez have both been indicted for their criminal investigation conducted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Rauchfuss has been indicted for obstruction of justice related to the alleged theft of firearms and Perez has been indicted for misconduct in office, which is related to alleged assistance provided to Rauchfuss in the theft of firearms.
