Mississippi man faces fourth DUI charge

A Mississippi man has been arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence for the fourth time.

On June 16, deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a careless driver.

Deputies arrived and pulled over Andrew Shane Parker, 38, of Oxford.

He was arrested for DUI. Deputies discovered Parker had three previous DUIs.

He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where he was charged with DUI 4th and was given a $25,000 bond.

In Mississippi, a fourth DUI is a felony and can result in a license suspension, a fine of up to $10,000, up to 10 years in prison and vehicle impoundment.

The driver may also be ordered to install an ignition interlock device — is a small, handheld breathalyzer that prevents a driver from starting their vehicle if they have been drinking alcohol. The device is typically wired to the vehicle’s ignition, horn, and headlights, and is usually located near the driver’s seat.
