Twin sisters charged with confining man in garage during domestic fight

LAFAYETTE, Ind. ― Rebecca Farrell's knife was mightier than Sharon Jarrett's pen.
The 68-year-old twin sisters ― Farrell armed with a large knife, and Jarrett with a black pen ― confined Farrell's ex-boyfriend, a 40-year-old Lafayette man, inside Farrell's garage Monday evening, according to prosecutors who accuse Farrell of stabbing the man.
Farrell and Jarrett accused him of theft, threatening to kill him as the sisters held him at knifepoint ― and penpoint ― during the argument, according to prosecutors. Farrell stabbed the man in the chest during the confrontation, but the wound was not life-threatening, police said.
The ex-boyfriend huddled in the corner of the garage in the 300 block of Elmwood Avenue because he did not feel it was safe to bolt past the sisters, according to prosecutors. When an opportunity presented itself, he ran to a nearby business and hid in a dumpster until a CityBus stopped at a bus stop near the business.
The stabbing victim boarded the bus, which he took to a friend's house. That friend drove him to the hospital, where police were called at 9:52 p.m. Monday.
While huddling in the corner of the garage, the man covertly recorded video of the sisters, in which he can be heard pleading with the women to leave him alone, prosecutors said. The video also shows the sisters blocking his escape and are heard saying that he messed with the wrong sisters, as well as other threats.
Once at the hospital, the man was treated and later released, police said.
Meanwhile, the sisters went to jail.
On Wednesday, prosecutors charged Farrell and Jarrett with criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement with bodily injury and two counts of intimidation.
Prosecutors also charged Farrell with domestic battery with a deadly weapon. Both sisters remained incarcerated Wednesday at the Tippecanoe County Jail in lieu of bond.
