After one stellar season in Lafayette, Louisiana baseball's relief ace is going pro. Right-hander LP Langevin was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft on Monday.

Langevin, a Quebec native, came to UL after two seasons at Wabash Valley College in Illinois. In his lone season with the Ragin' Cajuns, Langevin led the Sun Belt Conference with 106 strikeouts, while also allowing the fewest hits (40) and runs (27) of any qualifying pitcher.

For his performance, he was named the SBC's Pitcher of the Year, the first Louisiana pitcher to win the award since Colten Schmidt in 2018.

Langevin has until July 25th to sign his contract with the Royals. If he fails to come to an agreement with Kansas City, he may return to UL for his senior season.
