    Two Cajuns selected in 1st 2 days of MLB draft

    The 2024 Major League Baseball Draft is underway and a Louisiana player was picked in each of the first two days.

    Sunday night, the Minnesota Twins picked shortstop Kyle DeBarge at number 33.

    In 3 years as a Cajun, he hit .339 with 31 home runs and 140 RBI.

    DeBarge was named the 2024 Sun Belt player of the year.

    One day later, The Kansas City Royals selected The Sun Belt’s pitcher of the year, Louisiana’s LP Langevin at number 105.

    He’s the second Cajun picked by Kansas City in as many years; Carson Roccaforte was chosen in 2023.

    Langevin finished the 2024 season as the Sun Belt leader in in strikeouts (106), fewest hits allowed (40) and fewest runs allowed (27).

    The MLB draft concludes on Tuesday.
