Newton looks to ease overnight parking, update tree protections
NEWTON — The Newton Council appears ready to ease limits on overnight parking in town and to institute new rules on how and when property owners can cut down trees. At Monday's meeting, the council also voted to equip and man a vehicle repair facility for town-owned vehicles, especially police cars with Councilwoman Michelle Teets asking that there be an in-depth look at the new operation in 18 months to see if the town is saving on repair bills.
Cambridge Street in Madison Set to Close End of October 2024
MADISON, NJ - Cambridge Street, which offers cards, stationery, custom invitations and gifts, has announced that they will close at the end of October. The store has been in Madison for the past 12 years. Sparta Township Council Narrowly Approves 1st Reading of Funding for Master Plan Review
SPARTA, NJ – The first reading of an ordinance to fund the master plan review narrowly passed after much discussion. Ordinance 24-08 was opposed by Josh Hertzberg, supported by Mayor Neill Clark, Deputy Mayor Dean Blumetti and Councilman Dan Chiariello. Councilwoman Christine Quinn abstained. The ordinance provides $300,000 to fund a subcommittee of the Sparta Planning Board to undertake a complete review of the township’s master plan.
