Another week, another hate-filled rant from Paul Finebaum about USC Football .

All had been quiet on the western front, in terms of Finebaum rhetoric, for a couple of weeks, but now he is back squeezing his way into the rounds of the mega media market that is Los Angeles.

On an episode of First Take , Finebaum was asked who had a better shot at making the College Football Playoff, the Michigan Wolverines or the USC Trojans.

Unsurprising to anyone, he not only unequivocally chose the Wolverines, but then decided to continue with his take on Lincoln Riley being a mediocre coach and never learning how to adapt, etc.

Paul Finebaum: USC Football “Isn’t Going Anywhere”

“Southern Cal, to me, isn’t going anywhere, except for maybe seeing Lincoln Riley depart in a year or two. I’m just so underwhelmed with what he’s done there, Matt. He had the big year with Caleb Williams, and then he trainwrecked it. He wouldn’t adjust, as he has never done, even before at Oklahoma when it comes to the defensive side of the ball.”

“I think he’s an average coach. I think Sherrone Moore has a chance to be a really good coach.”

Finebaum is a broken record at this point, spewing the same points over and over again.

Lincoln Riley had a really bad 2023. Throughout his career, Lincoln Riley has been a really good coach. Both statements can be true, and based on the 2024 offseason, he is set up for a big bounce-back year.

Sherrone Moore has the opportunity to be a really good football coach, as well. Riley has already established that he is one. But at this point, all that matters is what happens on the field.

Both the USC Trojans and Michigan Wolverines square off in Week 3 . I certainly expect there to be some fireworks.
