When life gives you lemons, you start a lemonade stand. Mary Joy’s Lemonade stands will be spread around the Southeast on Saturday, July 27. The Mary Joy Moosman Foundation will be putting on four lemonade stands to raise funds for Hadilee Arnold’s recovery.

Moosman, the namesake of the foundation, and Arnold were two of the five Troup High School students in a May car accident. After Moosman passed away due to her injuries, her family began the foundation in her honor, which will provide scholarships to three Troup High students.

The foundation has already held a successful ‘Joy Ride’ where over 100 cars drove from LaGrange to West Point to raise scholarship funds.

The money raised from the lemonade stand will, in years to come, go toward the scholarships. However, this year, all of the money raised will be going to support Arnold and her family.

“If Mary Joy was here, she would be wanting to do anything and everything to help Hadilee and Toby [Arnold, Hadilee’s father],” Amber Moosman-Robinson, Mary Joy’s mother said. “So we thought this will be an awesome thing to get started and do every year in Mary Joy’s honor and memory, to keep her, her name and her legacy alive, spreading joy and kindness.”

Arnold was recently transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, and is continuing to progress, but still has a long road ahead. The proceeds will go to her family for living expenses in Atlanta, Arnold’s medical care, and other necessities.

The four lemonade stands will be spread across Georgia and Florida, all run by members of Moosman’s family. Moosman’s mother, Amber, will be hosting one in West Point at 609 Ave C. There will be a location at the Local Chiropractic in LaGrange. The other two will be at the Piggly Wiggly in Ellaville and in Jacksonville, Florida.

Amber said the idea came from her sister who reminded her of the lemonade stands Mary Joy would put on during the summers in West Point. Often, it was to raise money for her cheer team. The family then got together to coordinate the multi-state fundraiser.

They will all begin at 10 a.m. with no end time; Amber hopes to finish when all the supplies are sold out. There will be pink and regular lemonade for $2, as well as chocolate chip cookies. A cash jar will be at each of the locations. There is also a Venmo, @Hadilee-Strong, and CashApp, $HadileeStron, set up that goes directly to Arnold’s care.
