Breaking real estate records in Orange County, a rare 42-acre property in San Juan Capistrano hit the market in June for a listing price of $150 million. In the heart of San Juan near Marbella Country Club, Robert Maurer, the seller of “Casa Grande,” has been dreaming of the day to see the fruition of the estate be completed. The estate includes an existing 21,000-square-foot structure consisting of three apartments, offices, and storage space, which was completed in 2010. It also has permitted plans for a 38,000-square-foot main residence on a ridgeline with 360-degree views.

Orange County school official sentenced for embezzling over $16.6 million from district
A federal judge sentenced a former Orange County school employee to nearly six years in prison for embezzling nearly $16.7 million from the district. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 53-year-old Jorge Armando Contreras embezzled the money over a seven-year period. Delayed sand project in north San Clemente will start July 31
A project to add more sand to North Beach in San Clemente is set to get underway July 31, after a permitting delay pushed the start back a few weeks. The replenishment effort will involve hauling truckloads of sand to the eroded stretch of beach, with a goal of bringing about 30,000 cubic yards that was dredged from the Santa Ana River, according to San Clemente’s coastal administrator Leslea Meyerhoff.
