Good morning and happy Labor Day! We are kicking off September with another heatwave. Get ready, this one is expected to be a scorcher.

If you're making your way to the beach for the holiday, expect some low clouds this morning followed by afternoon sun. Today's highs along the beaches will be in the mid to upper 70s, up to 82 degrees in Long Beach. The inland coast will be in the mid to upper 80s, and it'll be up to 90 degrees in downtown L.A.

It will be hot in the valleys, with highs in the upper 90s to low 100s, and up to a high of 104 degrees for the western San Fernando Valley and the Inland Empire.

Coachella Valley will see a high of 109 degrees, dropping down to 104 degrees for the high desert.

Tonight's lows across Southern California will be in the 60s to around the low 70s.

Come Wednesday an excessive heat watch begins for Southern California as valley highs will reach up to the low 110s, and it's expected to get up to 118 degrees in the low desert. Forecasters say the peak of this heatwave will be on Thursday and Friday.
