LAKE CHARLES, La. ( KLFY ) — A mother accused of killing one child and abandoning another made a shocking confession as she arrived back in Louisiana.

According to KPLC , Aaliyah Jack, 25, of Lake Charles, admitted killing Legend Dary Jack, her 4-year-old son . His body was found July 8 floating in the water behind the Vinton Welcome Center.

KPLC reports Aaliyah Jack made the confession to its reporter as Jack was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center on Saturday. When asked why she did it Jack was quoted as saying, “I’m not sure, I was under the influence of drugs.”

His 1-year-old brother, Kingtrail, was also found abandoned in a ditch on I-10 eastbound the next day. A truck driver spotted him crawling toward I-10 East, a few miles from where Legend’s body had been found.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory called Kingtrail a “miracle baby.” Guillory said the baby had insect bites but was otherwise okay after surviving two days in a ditch on the side of the interstate.

Kingtrail spent a night in the hospital and was placed in state care.

Jack was discovered in Mississippi by the Meridian Police Department, then extradited to Calcasieu Parish. She is being charged with two counts of failure to report a missing child, cruelty to a juvenile and second degree murder, with a bond set at $9.1 million.
