Dana Wharf Fish Report: Bass Fishing Strong, Bluefin Spotted
Bass fishing has been a day-to-day scenario for the half-day and three-quarter-day trips. Condition factors such as sea temps and current have been major contributors to the success of our trips. Water temperature has been in the 66°-68° range along the beach here. In the areas with kelp beds, the calico bass fishing has been OK. Fly-lined live sardines fished along the kelp have been the best bet for a bite, with some real standout fish being caught down off the Barn Kelp and Yellowtail Kelp areas off Camp Pendleton. Fifteen- to 25-pound monofilament line has been perfect.
