Avelo bows out of CWA, says direct flights “not profitable”
Less than a year after Avelo Airlines began nonstop flights from Central Wisconsin Airport to Orlando, Fla., the company is announcing they will pull back the endeavor. Avelo Airlines will discontinue service from Central Wisconsin to Orlando effective Aug. 31, 2024. Scheduled flights between now and August 31, 2024, will not be impacted.

The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) and Fitter & Faster are pleased to announce the Top 50 Age Group Coaches of the Year for 2024. The results were compiled using the USA Swimming Power Points of the top ranked 11-14 year-old swimmers for the 2023 Long Course season and 2023-24 Short Course season. Each athlete was limited to a maximum of four swims contributing to their coach’s total.

Former Georgia guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope signs massive contract
Former Georgia Bulldogs basketball star Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is joining the Orlando Magic on a three-year, $66 million contract. Caldwell-Pope played for the Denver Nuggets during the 2023-2024 NBA season. The Nuggets fell to Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA playoffs. Caldwell-Pope brings championship experience to the Magic. He has won the NBA Finals twice in his career. The former Georgia star won one title with the Denver Nuggets and one with the Los Angeles Lakers. Orlando has a young core and is looking to advance further in the NBA postseason after falling in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Last season, Caldwell-Pope averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the Denver Nuggets. Caldwell-Pope connected on 40.6% of his three-point attempts. Sanford community activists come together to address youth violence
SANFORD, Fla. — In the wake of recent shootings involving teens, the Sanford community is determined to find solutions to the escalating violence. In the spring, someone fatally shot a 17-year-old boy during a drug deal gone wrong and another shooting at Cabana Live left 10 people with non-life-threatening injuries. In that incident, a 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged, according to authorities.
Three contenders looking to fill Deltona District 1 commission seat
Deltona will almost certainly see a change in leadership with four of seven seats on the City Commission up for grabs this election season. One of those contested races is in District 1, currently represented by James "Davison" Heriot. The incumbent was appointed to the commission in February to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former commissioner Tom Burbank.
Manhunt underway after driver's vehicle shot 5 times
Florida troopers are looking for whoever fired multiple shots at another driver in Deltona, hitting the vehicle at least five times. FHP said there appears to have been an incident between two drivers on the road, when one started shooting.
