Addy Milota scored a hat trick as Stoughton won a tightly-contested road game against Lake Mills’ girls soccer team, 4-3 at L-Cat Stadium on Thursday, May 23.

Milota scored unassisted in the sixth, 37th and 48th minutes for the Vikings (8-5-1).

The L-Cats (16-3-0) equalized for the second time in the game as Mollie Cooper scored off Ava Schmidt’s assist in the 60th minute.

Stoughton’s Meadow Sawicki then netted the game-winner unassisted in the 74th minute.

Cooper scored in the 14th minute and Schmidt scored on Olivia Klubertanz’s assist in the 34th minute to give Lake Mills a 2-1 lead.

“I’m so incredibly proud of how we battled a talented Stoughton team tonight,” Lake Mills girls soccer coach Jeff Hegstrom said. “We stuck together when times got tough out there, and most importantly, we never quit on the night.

“We were so close to finding the final equalizer late in the game, too. We definitely have some things we want to fine-tune after this game, as a few postseason teams we’re thinking we might see are of similar talent. I know the girls will be ready to get back to work, and be ready for the postseason run. A 16-win regular season is something to be very, very proud of.”

    The L-Cats had a program-best 11-game win streak snapped.

Lake Mills is the No. 6 seed in its Division 3 playoff bracket and hosted 11th-seeded Edgerton in a regional semifinal on Thursday, May 30.
