To prepare for a project that will add 23 affordable housing units at 16858 Boones Ferry Road, the city of Lake Oswego is bolstering public infrastructure. This will mean temporary traffic delays.

The city advised community members in a post on its website Thursday, Feb. 15 to expect major traffic impacts and lane shifts on Boones Ferry Road from Pilkington Road to Upper Drive from Thursday, Feb. 22 to March 6 as crews install new stormwater and sewer pipes.

Construction work will commence from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. During these times travel lanes will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Further, the Boones Ferry Road and Washington Court signal will be shut off and flaggers will direct traffic.

“The traveling public should expect significant delays in the work area. Please find alternate routes or plan ahead for extra travel time during this work,” the city post stated.

Habitat for Humanity, the city of Lake Oswego and the Department of Housing and Urban Development collaborated on this housing project, called West Lake Grove Townhouses, and celebrated its groundbreaking in December. Units will be sold to households with income ranges from 35% to 80% of the region’s median family income.

Along with the stormwater and sewer lines, the city will build a water line with meters and fire hydrants, new ADA curb ramps, a new southbound left turn pocket from Boones Ferry Road into the subdivision and a new signalized pedestrian crossing.
