    'Go play:' Check out concert, fashion show or family event in Lake Oswego

    Lake Oswego Reads book giveaway

    Local library cardholders can pick up a free copy of the Lake Oswego Reads’ 2024 selection “Honor” by Thrity Umrigar from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the Lake Oswego Public Library.

    The program will offer a month-long slate of events based on the book in April.

    Heritage House Family Day

    The Oswego Heritage house will host a Family Day at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the building in Lake Oswego. The event will include activities and a chance to engage with local history.

    Wilsonville speaker series

    The Wilsonville DEI Speaker Series continues with a talk titled “LGBTQIA+: Understanding and Allyship,” presented by Erika Pham, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 at the Clackamas Community College campus in Wilsonville. Pham is the chair of the city’s DEI Committee and she will discuss “how gender and sexual orientation are concepts with varied meanings across time and cultures, and in what ways they are evolving rapidly today,” according to the city website.

    Millennium band concert

    The Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band will lead audiences on a narrative journey without words during its show, “Storytelling Through Music,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3 in the Lakeridge High School Auditorium.

    DEI talk

    Respond to Racism, Clackamas County Equity Coalition and Showing Up for Racial Justice host an event titled Envisioning After Dismantling — The Past, President and Future of DEI in Clackamas County at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the Lake Oswego United Church of Christ.

    These groups will discuss Clackamas County’s decision to nix its Equity and Inclusion Office.

    Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

    The city of Lake Oswego, which had to postpone its Martin Luther King Jr. celebration due to January’s storm, will host the belated celebration 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the Lake Oswego Public Library and online.

    The event will include a poetry reading from Emmett Wheatfall, musical performances by Alonzo Chadwick Sr. and The Godsistas, remarks from Mayor Joe Buck and Council President Massene Mboup and more.

    New Seasons reopening

    The New Seasons Market in the Palisades neighborhood of Lake Oswego will celebrate its revamped space during an event from 12-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. The event will include samplings from local purveyors and a visit from baby goats from the company’s local farm. The renovation included adding nature-inspired art to the store’s walls.

    Women’s Day Lunch and Fashion Show

    Nicoletta’s Table and Marketplace in Lake Oswego is hosting an International Women’s Day Luncheon and fashion show at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 8. The fashion show will feature Grapevine and Pigments, which will present spring fashion. The event costs $40.
