The Lake Oswego Public Library will feature the Soul Box Project, which raises awareness for the gun violence epidemic, throughout June.

The exhibit is named “This Loss We Carry” and has been distributed across 27 states. According to the Soul Box Project website, there have been over 28,000 deaths as a result of gun violence in the United States in 2024. The exhibit is meant to honor lives lost.

“People across the nation are folding paper origami Soul Boxes to represent the incomprehensible number of gunfire deaths and injuries,” the Soul Box Project website reads. “They are counting victims in memorial exhibits, offering caring solace through art-making and connecting with other initiatives working for safer, healthier communities.”
