October 27, 1942 – May 13, 2024 - Lake Oswego, Oregon – Katherine Carter, known to her family and friends as Kit, died on May 13 from breast cancer. Kit was born on October 27, 1942 in Minnesota, but spent most of her early childhood in Texas, where her parents met and went to school together. In the early 1950s, the family moved from Texas to Massachusetts, where Kit attended junior high and high school, and then went on to graduate from Harvard University. Mid-career, Kit left her job as a health care analyst in California state government and moved back to Massachusetts to attend Harvard Law School. She spent the rest of her career working in tax law in Boston. Upon retirement, Kit moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon to be near her son and grandchildren. There, she immersed in her passions for reading and music, and pursued new activities like gardening and playing scrabble with the close friends.

Kit was preceded in death by her father Robert Keeton and her mother Elizabeth Keeton. She is survived by her son Jeremy Carter, Jeremy’s partner Connie Liakos; her grandchildren Emmitt and Evan Carter; her brother William Keeton, of Kansas City Missouri; and her ( nephews Samuel and Benjamin Keeton. Kit will be missed by all the family and friends who were fortunate to know her and will be remembered always for her kindness, determination, and love of life.
