A deadly derecho swept across the Midwest on Monday (July 15), leaving a path of destruction nearly 500 miles long from Iowa to Indiana. Hawarden Man Airlifted After Monday Crash
Rock Valley, Iowa – A Hawarden man was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital following a single-vehicle crash about 8 miles south of Rock Valley Monday afternoon (July 15th). According to the Iowa State Patrol, the mishap occurred about 1:45 Monday afternoon at the corner of Eagle Avenue and 390th Street. Troopers say 76-year-old Charles McMillan of Hawarden was westbound on 390th Street in a 2013 Ford pickup, when he crossed the center line and entered the south ditch, striking a field drive.
