70-year-old from Whiteville dies in head-on collision
WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) - A 70-year-old man died in a crash Tuesday evening, July 23, on Red Store Road in Columbus County. Per a N.C. State Highway Patrol representative, Cornell Singletary died after getting crashed into by 18-year-old Nathan Hester when he swerved off the road, crossed back over through the center line and crashed into Singletary’s car head-on. Singletary was not wearing a seatbelt and died on the scene. Both Singletary and Hester are from Whiteville.
