Auburn voters to decide on 2% transient occupancy tax increase
AUBURN, Calif. — People in Auburn will vote on raising the transient occupancy tax by 2% in November. If Measure F passes, it would increase the sales tax from 8% to 10%, according to a staff report. Raising the tax would increase annual revenue by about $162,000, according to the city of Auburn.
Rollins Reservoir levels continue to drop
Rollins Reservoir is being drawn down quickly as the demand for drinking water and raw water used for irrigation is in demand during the hot summer months. On April 19, Rollins Reservoir was at 101 percent of capacity, according to NID, and on May 31 that number reduced to 94 percent capacity, showing a steady decline.

Oroville man jailed for nabbing hospital van
RED BLUFF – Stealing a hospital van has increased a man’s prison time. The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office said on July 4, 2022, Floyd Lorenzo Lujan of Oroville was released from the hospital and stole the hospital’s van when he left. He was contacted the following day, sleeping near the van. Lujan admitted to taking the van. According to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office logs, he was arrested on Meridian Road and booked into the Tehama County Jail for suspicion of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, vehicle theft and vandalism.
