Lake County, Illinois – Fireworks Destroy Two Homes Early Friday Morning
Wadsworth, IL – Two residential fires in Lake County, likely caused by fireworks, have left one home completely destroyed and another severely damaged. According to Lake County Sheriff’s Police it began early Friday around 12:50 a.m., when Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and local fire agencies responded to a fire on Charlotte Drive, Wadsworth. The three occupants and their pets evacuated safely before the home was engulfed. Firefighters battled the fire for hours, but the home was a total loss. The fire was linked to explosive fireworks set off near the house earlier.
Lake County: Crowbar-Wielding Suspect Targets Jewel-Osco Employees
Zion, IL – Zion Police Department officers swiftly responded to a violent armed robbery at Jewel-Osco on 1400 21st St. last Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Kebron Dennis, allegedly homeless but residing in and around Zion, stormed into the store, allegedly stole liquor, and attacked employees with a crowbar when they attempted to stop him. Despite the employees’ brave efforts, Dennis managed to flee the scene before officers arrived within a minute of dispatch.

Downs, IL – Stanley Miller Killed in Collision on IL 150 at East Rd
Downs, IL (July 2, 2024) – A man from Crystal Lake is being identified as the victim of a fatal crash Monday night. The McLean County Coroner says Stanley M. Miller, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene. The events leading up to the collision are still unknown, and officers did not say how many people were hospitalized as a result of the crash. The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on Monday on Illinois Highway 150, west of McLean County and close to East Road in Downs. Illinois physician pleads guilty to fraud
An Illinois physician has pleaded guilty to billing Medicaid and private insurers for nonexistent services. Mona Ghosh, MD, 51, pleaded guilty to two counts of healthcare fraud, according to a July 1 Justice Department news release. She owned a medical office in Hoffman Estates, Ill., specializing in obstetrics and gynecology services. From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Ghosh submitted fraudulent claims to Medicaid, Tricare and other insurers for procedures and services that were not provided or were not medically necessary, some of which were performed without patient consent.
Woman Shot Dead In Elgin During Suspected Domestic Dispute
A woman is dead after being shot late Tuesday morning after what police believe was a domestic dispute. At 11:57am Tuesday, Elgin police officers responded to the 1300 block of Fleetwood Drive for a report of an injured subject. Officers arrived on the scene and located an adult female victim with injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
