New wheelchair built for tougher sand terrains available for free at Muskegon beach
MUSKEGON, MI - The city of Muskegon purchased a second beach wheelchair that can be reserved for free to improve accessibility. The new Action Trackchair was purchased for $15,000 for visitors to use at Pere Marquette beach on Lake Michigan. The wheelchair cannot go in the water like the first one but can navigate through tougher sand terrains for “those seeking a more adventurous experience on the beach,” the city posted on Facebook Wednesday, July 25.

Man killed in ‘broad daylight’ at crowded Kalamazoo apartment complex
KALAMAZOO, MI -- A man has died after being shot yesterday in Kalamazoo, police said. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced that a shooting on Wednesday, July 24, at Fox Ridge Apartments is now classified as a homicide. The victim, 30-year-old Charles Lee Weir, died from injuries suffered in the shooting, police said on Thursday, July 25.
