Local individuals arrested on numerous felony conspiracy charges
Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office T.R.A.C.E. Team, assigned to the Special Investigations Division, began investigating the theft of a Caterpillar 953C Track Loader, valued at $110,000.00 from the Thomasville community. During the investigation, Detectives, assisted by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Stokes County Sheriff’s Office, Kernersville Police Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol, developed leads and identified the suspects involved in the larceny. As the investigation evolved, numerous individuals were arrested and charged.
Man found dead week after he disappeared in Durham
A 41-year-old man from Durham who had been missing for a week was found dead Tuesday, according to his sister.It's been an emotional day for family and friends. The outcome they were hoping for was shattered after police confirmed a body found in a ditch was their loved one--Ira Henderson.Ira Henderson was last seen July 23 on Hillsborough Road near Lasalle Street.Tuesday afternoon, Durham police responded to a cardiac arrest call and found a man's body in a wooded area in a ditch. Family members tell ABC11 they alerted investigators to the scene off Highway 55 near Courtney Creek Boulevard. The location is about 10 miles from where he was last seen. His sister told ABC11 that Henderson's body had been found.Police confirm a motorcycle was also located near the scene and family members believe it is Henderson's bike.His family had already filed a missing person's report and was desperate to find him.Durham Police Department posted the flyer to their social media pages on Monday.
To increase retention, NC HBCUs are hiring student 'success coaches'
A growing number of Historically Black Colleges and Universities are hiring student success coaches to increase retention. The initiative is part of a collaboration between the United Negro College Fund and a coaching organization called InsideTrack. The partnership currently has two student success training cohorts that include 25 HBCUs across the U.S.
