Another Successful Run for LakeFest
(La Porte, IN) - Another very successful Lakefest was held over the weekend in La Porte. Among the events were two days of professional jetski racing on Stone Lake. The fourth annual LakeFest started late in the afternoon on Friday at Fox Park with a lot of fun activities like wiffle ball home run derby and a golf ball hitting contest. The objective for people swinging a golf club was to hit a floatable target on Clear Lake with the ball.

One of the top 2026 offensive tackles, Pennsylvania’s Kevin Brown, was offered a scholarship by Notre Dame football at the middle of March during “Pot of Gold Day.” The 6-foot, 5-inch and 270-pound star held offers from the major of powerhouse programs across the country, but this weekend made the short tip to State College and visited Penn State. The nation’s No. 36 overall prospect and 5th ranked tackle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings saw all he needed to see, and committed to the Nittany Lions shortly after his trip. This is obviously a recruiting loss for the Irish, but it was always seen as an uphill battle to lure Brown away from his home state. Scattered storms and high humidity
The humidity is on the rise. Tonight will feature high humidity, mostly cloudy skies, and a 40% chance of scattered showers. Brief, heavy downpours are possible as well but much of the area will stay dry tonight with lows falling into the upper 60s. Scattered showers and storms are possible every single day this week besides Wednesday. It will stay muggy which will push heat indices into the 90s most of the coming week. Highs may hit 90 on Wednesday with partly cloudy skies and dry weather. The severe weather risk remains low this week as of now, but any stronger storm could have heavy rain and gusty winds up to 40-50 mph. Highs in the 80s and the oppressive humidity likely last into the coming weekend.
